Vizioncore Seals OEM Agreement with Dell

September 11, 2008 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

Vizioncore today announced (PDF) an OEM agreement with Dell, who has been a Vizioncore channel partner for more than 2 years. This strategic announcement furthers the go-to-market relationship between the two companies, enhancing the options available to customers who want to both optimize and safeguard their virtualized environments.

Vizioncore will also be demonstrating a set of technology innovations unrivalled for functionality across the entire lifecycle of virtual servers at VMworld in Las Vegas. Vizioncore will introduce “industry-firsts” with a comprehensive suite for workflow automation and heterogeneous VM administration. These products allow companies to track virtual machines throughout their lifecycle, standardizing processes and streamlining maintenance, providing “cradle-to-grave” management. A new storage optimization product will allow organizations to reclaim storage resources which are unutilized by virtual machines for improved efficiency in their virtual environments.

August 28, 2008 by Robin Wauters 1 Comment

ExaGrid Systems today announced support for Vizioncore’s backup and recovery solution, vRanger Pro (which recently got an upgrade). Both ExaGrid and Vizioncore offer products and solutions that streamline the management of data backup and recovery processes for VMware users.

Vizioncore is a provider of a comprehensive set of solutions that extend and enhance the capabilities of virtualized environments. ExaGrid offers VMware customers using Vizioncore’s vRanger Pro with the industry’s fastest backups and restores, along with high data de-duplication ratios.

Vizioncore’s vRanger Pro solution offers full image level and differential backups of virtual machines to enable faster, more efficient storage and recovery of virtual machines. ExaGrid’s Disk-based Backup systems serve as the backup target for these virtual machine images, using high-performance, post-process data de-duplication to dramatically reduce the disk storage capacity required for backups versus standard disk storage.

Vizioncore Updates vRanger and vCharter Pro

July 17, 2008 by Robin Wauters 1 Comment

Vizioncore has released an upgrade to its backup and restore solution for virtualization environments, vRanger Pro 3.2.4. With vRanger Pro, administrators can schedule regular image-level backups of virtual or physical machines – while the machine is still running.  Images can be stored either locally in the SAN or sent as compressed files over a WAN to remote locations to support disaster recovery strategies. vRanger Pro also enables restore of individual files efficiently with an explorer tree through which users can easily identify and “grab” needed files.

vRanger Pro 3.2.4 is a minor update to the core 3.2 functionality.  There are two key components of this release: VCB Differential Backups and Support for FIPS encryption. Also included in this release are several bug fixes.

In addition, Vizioncore has released a minor dot release to its enterprise-level virtualization monitoring solution, vCharter Pro 3.0.1.  Key improvements include support for external Oracle databases (versions 9i or 10g) and a significant number of bug fixes. The 3.0.1 version of vCharter Pro now also supports installation on the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003.

After spending 13 years in increasingly important product development roles at Citrix, beginning as a director in testing and rising to VP of product development for the company, Russ Naples has joined Vizioncore as Senior VP of product development reporting directly to Vizioncore president and chief operating officer Chris Akerberg.

“We are at a pivotal point for taking products that have been highly successful in our initial phase as a company to the next level in meeting customer needs,” said Akerberg. “A seasoned engineer with the kind of product development experience that Russ brings to the table is exactly what we need to deliver more solutions better and faster to customers, and I am delighted to have Russ as part of the leadership team.”

Before Citrix, Naples served as project lead in General Electric’s Systems Integration, Test and Quality Department and has experience teaching management science courses at the university level. Naples holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Chapman University in addition to a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and has served on several university advisory boards related to engineering and computer science.
