AppSense Announces Partnership with CSC

AppSense announced today that it has teamed with CSC to provide the AppSense Management Suite as the user environment management solution for the CSC Dynamic Desktop.

The CSC Dynamic Desktop is a virtual desktop solution that uses a combination of virtualization, thin client and secure access technologies to deliver a highly flexible personal desktop environment that is accessible from anywhere. With CSC Dynamic Desktop, applications and user data are stored on servers located behind firewalls. This enables employees to access their “desktop” remotely and securely, regardless of location, and it allows the IT department to rapidly deploy systems to new users or refresh desktops without having to touch them individually.

AppSense user environment management technology enables CSC Dynamic Desktop users to experience a fully personalized desktop while enabling the business to more effectively implement corporate policy.

In addition to the personalization of dynamic desktops, AppSense technology has been designed to work across multiple application delivery mechanisms. By combining virtual, streamed, provisioned and published applications, organizations are able to use the right mechanism for the right users at the right time. With AppSense, the user’s working environment is not dependent on the delivery mechanism, providing the user with a consistent, predictable and personalized working experience.

Industry Moves: Christopher Page (Vizioncore) and Patrick Clark (Expert Server Group)

Vizioncore today announced Christopher Page as the company’s new Director of Product Management, reporting to company VP of Products and Support, Jason Mattox.

Prior to joining Vizioncore, Page spent 18 years in product management and engineering positions at companies such as Motorola, Macrovision and Navteq. His diverse experience includes managing the development of software, data content and hardware products. Page’s accomplishments include helping companies win new business, developing new products and marketing complex technologies.

Page also holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management as well as an MS in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Expert Server Group also announced the appointment of Patrick L. Clark as Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Clark will be responsible for developing and overseeing Expert Server Group’s growing sales force and customer relations programs.

Clark’s extensive background spans the history of Internet and networking technology, starting early on as a co-founder and VP of Sales and Marketing at Interlan, one of the first local area network product companies, and continuing through his most recent role as head of Worldwide Sales for Converged Access, a leader in VoIP Application Performance Management.

Clark also brings the experience of building worldwide sales organizations. Prior to Converged Access, he was head of North American sales and service at Phone.com, a leading provider of wireless Internet infrastructure software to global telecommunications companies. Before that, he was the vice president of worldwide sales with Paragon Software, a leading provider of data and content synchronization software for the major wireless handset vendors and global telecommunications companies that was acquired by Phone.com in early 2000. Prior to Paragon Software, Clark was vice president of worldwide sales at Software.com, a leading provider of Internet/Intranet infrastructure software to global Telcos and Internet Service Providers (ISP’s). Previous to Software.com, Clark was EVP worldwide sales and field marketing for Computervision, a leading provider of CAD/CAM software and services where he was part of the successful turnaround of this $800 million software company.

Clark held significant roles in startup and high growth companies throughout his career. First, as the co-founder of Interlan, an early pioneer in the local area networking product space, and then serving as EVP and general manager with Microcom, a leading manufacturer of protocol modem, internetworking bridges/routers and communications software.

Clark also was a general partner of Windspeed Ventures, a seed round and early stage investment group in software and communications infrastructure companies. Clark sat on the advisory board for privately held companies Bitfone, Esmertec and Vividon.

Veeam Goes After European Market With VMware Management Tools

Veeam Software today announced its entry into the European market. The company has launched a dedicated sales organisation, headquartered in its new UK-based EMEA headquarters office, for customers seeking to improve the manageability of virtual IT infrastructures based on VMware‘s market leading virtualisation software. The European executive team will be led by Managing Director Colin Wright and comprise a number of executives who have joined Veeam Software from senior positions at VMware. In addition, Veeam is launching two new products, Veeam Monitor Version 3.0 and version 4 of its nworks enterprise management connectors.

A recent study by IDC found that eighty-two percent of European companies are using VMware. The study also found that across Europe, disaster recovery, backup and availability have been the main growth areas for virtualisation over the past year. In order to more effectively address these specific challenges, Veeam Software is establishing a sales organisation that mirrors VMware’s presence in Europe. From today, European VMware users will be able to access the entire Veeam Software portfolio, which includes Veeam Backup, Veeam Reporter, Veeam Configurator and Veeam Monitor. They will also be able to use the company’s nworks enterprise management connectors that enable organisations to manage VMware environments with systems management tools from Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft.

Founded in 2006, Veeam Software’s fifty strong development team quickly created a range of systems management tools for VMware ESX Server environments. Veeam actively sought customer feedback to its early versions, and is now beginning the rollout of its 3.0 releases, offering advanced capabilities and the innovative features customers want most. The company will launch into Europe with two brand new updates.

Veeam Monitor Version 3.0, an easy-to-deploy VMware monitoring solution, provides VMware administrators with performance monitoring, capacity planning and trend analysis, as well as troubleshooting and problem resolution. In addition, Veeam will launch Version 4.0 of its nworks enterprise management connectors, composed of new updates for the nworks Management Pack (MP) for VMware for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager; and the nworks Smart Plug-in (SPI) for VMware for HP Software Operations Manager. Both products offer major new capabilities including hardware and sensor status.

SAVVIS To Resell Skytap’s Virtual Lab service, Seals Alliance With Parallels

Skytap today announced a strategic alliance with SAVVIS, provider of IT infrastructure services for business applications, to resell Skytap’s Virtual Lab service.

Skytap Virtual Lab provides virtualized infrastructure, including hardware, storage and networking resources. Customers get access to a complete virtual lab solution on demand including a pre-populated virtual machine library with major operating systems, databases and other application software.
SAVVIS also announced a business alliance with Parallels. The alliance enables independent software vendors (ISVs) to rapidly convert their single-tenancy applications to operate in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment without having to re-architect their software.

VirtualLogix To Support Newest Multicore Association Specification

VirtualLogix has announced VLX real-time virtualization software support for the Multicore Association’s recently approved specification for Multicore Communications API (MCAPI).

MCAPI has been defined to flexibly support hundreds of processor cores and systems with tight memory constraints, fast task execution times, reliable on-chip interconnect and high system throughput requirements. By supporting the MCAPI specification within VLX, customers are able to apply this same flexibility and scalability to virtualized environments allowing them to easily migrate applications from a physical multicore system to one implemented with VirtualLogix VLX virtualization software via this industry accepted API.

VirtualLogix VLX real-time virtualization software helps users reduce bill of material costs by consolidating hardware, improving security and reducing overall power consumption. VirtualLogix offers extensive support for multicore technology, including its VLX for Network Infrastructure, which supports Intel® Core™ MicroArchitecture and Texas Instruments Multi-core Digital Signal Processors. VLX Developer, VirtualLogix’s Eclipse-based development tool set, assists developers to optimize the software architecture of their virtualized, multicore platforms.

DataCore and Parallels Form Technology Alliance

DataCore Software and Parallels today announced the formation of a technology alliance. The purpose of the alliance is to provide mutual customers with an enhanced “complete virtualization” (server virtualization + storage virtualization) user experience, and to facilitate cross-qualification of their respective solutions on an ongoing basis.

The Pinnacle Group, a Premier Partner with DataCore Software and an expert in virtualization, storage, high availability and disaster recovery infrastructures, helped MB Trading meet its business objectives by designing and implementing DataCore’s SANmelody as the backbone of its virtualization infrastructure, running in conjunction with Parallels.
