AppSense Releases Environment Manager 8.0 For Personalizing Virtual And Physical Microsoft Platforms

November 11, 2008 by Robin Wauters 1 Comment

AppSense, provider of user environment management solutions for large-scale environments, today announced that its newly released Environment Manager 8.0 leverages Microsoft server technologies, providing a scalable and efficient way to personalize both virtual and physical desktops across the enterprise.

The only enterprise solution that enables standardized virtual desktop environments to be fully – and automatically – personalized, AppSense Environment Manager 8.0 accelerates virtual desktop adoption by rapidly configuring desktops and applications with a user’s personal and policy settings without administrator intervention.

By decoupling both policy and personalization data from the desktop, managing them independently and applying them on-demand, AppSense’s user environment management solution lets IT use a combination of desktop and application delivery methods—such as desktop virtualization, presentation virtualization, streamed applications and local and provisioned desktops—and easily and transparently migrate large groups of users from physical to virtual desktops.

AppSense Announces Partnership with CSC

September 30, 2008 by Robin Wauters 1 Comment

AppSense announced today that it has teamed with CSC to provide the AppSense Management Suite as the user environment management solution for the CSC Dynamic Desktop.

The CSC Dynamic Desktop is a virtual desktop solution that uses a combination of virtualization, thin client and secure access technologies to deliver a highly flexible personal desktop environment that is accessible from anywhere. With CSC Dynamic Desktop, applications and user data are stored on servers located behind firewalls. This enables employees to access their “desktop” remotely and securely, regardless of location, and it allows the IT department to rapidly deploy systems to new users or refresh desktops without having to touch them individually.

AppSense user environment management technology enables CSC Dynamic Desktop users to experience a fully personalized desktop while enabling the business to more effectively implement corporate policy.

In addition to the personalization of dynamic desktops, AppSense technology has been designed to work across multiple application delivery mechanisms. By combining virtual, streamed, provisioned and published applications, organizations are able to use the right mechanism for the right users at the right time. With AppSense, the user’s working environment is not dependent on the delivery mechanism, providing the user with a consistent, predictable and personalized working experience.

AppSense Revenues Growing Rapidly

July 25, 2008 by Robin Wauters 1 Comment

AppSense, provider of user environment management solutions for large-scale environments, reported a 50 % increase in U.S. revenue for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2008.  Its global business realized a 30 percent increase in worldwide revenue.

AppSense is aggressively focusing on the U.S. market, having doubled its investment in the U.S. over the last two quarters with increased investment planned again for the current fiscal year.  New U.S. customers this fiscal year include JP Morgan Chase, Lowes, United Airlines, Wachovia, Wal-Mart, ESPN, Applied Materials, and CB Richard Ellis, among others.  AppSense counts 15 of the top 20 banks worldwide as customers, with nine of them actively using AppSense software to personalize their virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments.

AppSense’s user environment management solution enables users to have the same look and feel, shortcuts and other settings on a virtual desktop that they had on their PC, while ensuring they adhere to company policies, such as accessing pre-determined printers, applications, networks, drivers and folders.  This allows companies to gain the benefits of desktop standardization and automation, including savings in hardware, storage and management oversight, with no impact on a user’s experience.

AppSense’s solution lets IT use a combination of desktop and application delivery methods—such as VDI, presentation virtualization, streamed applications and local and provisioned desktops—and easily and transparently migrate users from a physical to a virtual desktop.
