VirtualLogix Promises First Virtualization Phone At Mobile World Congress

January 26, 2009 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

VirtualLogix has just sent out an e-mail proclaiming that they’re about to launch the world’s first virtualized phone at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona:

Come see the world’s first virtualized phone at the VirtualLogix booth, 2D49, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 16-19.

VirtualLogix will be demonstrating how VLX virtualization can accelerate mobile phone innovation by rapidly adding more functionality at a lower cost to mass-market mobile phones.

Join us at our booth in Hall 2D to learn the significance of performance, power and security to virtualization on computing devices. Click here to schedule a demo or request a meeting at the show.

Should be interesting, indeed!

VirtualLogix To Support Newest Multicore Association Specification

September 28, 2008 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

VirtualLogix has announced VLX real-time virtualization software support for the Multicore Association’s recently approved specification for Multicore Communications API (MCAPI).

MCAPI has been defined to flexibly support hundreds of processor cores and systems with tight memory constraints, fast task execution times, reliable on-chip interconnect and high system throughput requirements. By supporting the MCAPI specification within VLX, customers are able to apply this same flexibility and scalability to virtualized environments allowing them to easily migrate applications from a physical multicore system to one implemented with VirtualLogix VLX virtualization software via this industry accepted API.

VirtualLogix VLX real-time virtualization software helps users reduce bill of material costs by consolidating hardware, improving security and reducing overall power consumption. VirtualLogix offers extensive support for multicore technology, including its VLX for Network Infrastructure, which supports Intel® Core™ MicroArchitecture and Texas Instruments Multi-core Digital Signal Processors. VLX Developer, VirtualLogix’s Eclipse-based development tool set, assists developers to optimize the software architecture of their virtualized, multicore platforms.

VirtualLogix Invents “Carrier Grade Virtualization”

July 21, 2008 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

VirtualLogix today announced something called “Carrier Grade Virtualization”, which it claims is the industry’s first solution that meets the performance, security, serviceability and availability needs of next generation, multicore-based carrier grade systems.

VirtualLogix says Carrier Grade Virtualization reduces the cost and complexity of maintaining carrier grade properties in edge and core network elements such as IP Multimedia System (IMS) nodes. According to the news release, networking and telecommunication OEMs can reuse existing investments in their carrier grade systems while gaining the benefits of using VirtualLogix VLX real-time virtualization software (faster adoption of multicore architectures and consolidation of hardware, reduced bill of materials, increased availability, improved time to market, and more efficient designs as a result).

VirtualLogix Carrier Grade Virtualization technology integrates High-Availability software with real-time virtualization in a multicore environment, and allows HA middleware to manage not only applications and hardware but also virtual machines running their own operating systems.

VirtualLogix also announced they are joining the Service Availability Forum.

VirtualLogix Carrier Grade Virtualization technology is immediately available and integrates VLX for Network Infrastructure, vHA, a virtualization enabled HA interface, and VLX Developer, a set of configuration, building and monitoring tools.

VirtualLogix Conforms to Open Mobile Terminal Platform Security

May 22, 2008 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

VirtualLogix announced its continued commitment to the Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) by submitting a Product Profile Statement in conformance with the organization’s new mobile hardware security recommendations designed to help protect against threats such as malware and fraud attacks. The OMTP is an operator-sponsored forum that gathers and drives mobile terminal requirements.

VirtualLogix

According to the press release, VirtualLogix VLX for Mobile Handsets is among the first products to conform to the “Advanced Trusted Environment” security recommendations through the OMTP Product Profile Statement.

In its “Advanced Trusted Environment” paper, OMTP focuses on the full set of hardware security requirements that will enable new mobile services to be run in a protected and secure environment. In addition to its Recommendations Papers, OMTP offers its Product Profile process, an online tool that enables network operators, device manufacturers and platform and technology providers to quickly compare and contrast technology offerings that can deliver compliance against the OMTP Recommendations. By conforming to the new “Advanced Trusted Environment” requirements VirtualLogix is helping set the baseline for hardware security in mobile devices for the next five to ten years.
