TAP

InstallFree Joins BMC Software’s Technology Alliance Program (TAP)

August 5, 2009 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

InstallFree, developer of platform application virtualization solutions for enterprise desktop environments, today announced its membership in BMC Software’s Technology Alliance Program (TAP).

TAP provides resources to enable the InstallFree Bridge – which encrypts and encapsulates virtual applications – to integrate with BMC Configuration Automation for Clients, providing closed-loop change control throughout the Business Service Management (BSM) platform.

The news marks the software industry’s first capability for automated, license-precise, inventory scanning of both virtual and physical applications to meet audit and compliance controls of contents within agentless virtual application bubbles. The integrated solutions provide IT organizations with the cost and management benefits of distributing virtual applications on demand, with added assurance that the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite has accurate visibility based on manufacturer data.

In addition to providing comprehensive discovery capabilities within BSM, InstallFree has also virtualized versions 5 and 7 of the BMC Remedy Action Request System to ease migrations to newer operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows 7.

Working together, BMC and InstallFree have identified that 1st Factor Discovery (seeing the application is on the endpoint) is not enough to pass security audits, because the packager may not provide the exact information that matches purchase contracts required for accurate reporting and compliance. InstallFree’s 2 Factor Inventory APIs enable BMC’s client discovery solution to pull and map additional information from the InstallFree agentless client, such as manufacturer-provided Information, into the BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB) via existing links and federation.

InstallFree also provides applications’ digital fingerprints to ensure that they have not been tampered with during transport or the delivery process. The result is accurate license compliance controls and identification of malware in virtual environments. This provides for quick remediation and reporting during spot audit checks – minimizing the risk to security, governance, and business continuity – while leveraging current controls, procedures, and existing tools for both physical and virtual applications.

RingCube Joins VMware Technology Alliance Partner

September 4, 2008 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

RingCube Technologies, provider of managed virtual workspaces, today announced (PDF) it has joined the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. The VMware TAP program helps technology vendors integrate their products with VMware virtualization software and deliver timely, joint solutions to mutual customers. As a member of the program, RingCube will utilize VMware resources and expertise to deliver desktop virtualization solutions that complement the VMware VDI architecture.

RingCube’s virtualization technology separates the user’s desktop environment, including applications, data, settings and system resources from the operating system and encapsulates it into a secure container. Users can run their virtual desktop at the office or on unmanaged PCs — at home, at a client site or in a hotel business center. When users start their RingCube workspace, it transforms any PC into their own familiar, personalized workspace that facilitates access to their files, applications, settings and entire desktop, as if they were on their own PC. RingCube virtual workspaces can be implemented via a variety of deployment options.

With more than 700 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program works with best-of-breed technology partners to provide them a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers.

Microsoft starting the Virtual Server 2005 R2 Service Pack 1 TAP

March 19, 2006 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

Jeff Alexander is calling for Virtual Server 2005 R2 Service Pack 1 Technology Adoption Program (TAP) :

This TAP program has two goals:

1. Product Validation

2. Help customers deploy this product in production scenarios and get case studies

The production scenarios that are of high interest are:

1. Production Server consolidation in datacenters

2. Disaster recovery

3. Server consolidation in Branch offices

TAP is a very special program giving access to particular benefits like direct interaction with product team engineering and product education from Microsoft, and is reserved for a very small amount of critical customers, able to dedicate a serious amount of time for testing and usually providing information to create case studies for a new product launch (for more details about TAPs you should check this blog entry). So it’s really hard to get it.

Thanks to Dugie at Virtualserver.tv  and Jeff Alexander for this news.
