Ericom Debuts Chromebook-Ready, Pure HTML5 Client For VMware View

Ericom Software today announced general availability of Ericom AccessNow for VMware View, bringing an almost three-month beta to an end.

Ericom AccessNow for VMware View is a patent-pending HTML5 client that provides web-based access to VMware View virtual desktops.

It’s the first VDI solution to run wholly within any HTML5-compatible Web browser, and works on Chromebooks and natively with Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer (with Chrome Frame plug-in), Firefox, Opera and other browsers with HTML5 and WebSocket support. The solution does not require Java, Flash, Silverlight or any other underlying technology.

Ericom also recently announced AccessNow, the first product to provide access to Windows applications and desktops running on Windows Terminal Services / RDS / VDI platforms directly from Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer (with Chrome Frame plug-in), Firefox, Opera and other browsers with HTML5 and WebSocket support, without any plug-ins required.

Ericom Announces First ‘Pure’ HTML5 Client For VMware View

Ericom Software, provider of Application Access and Desktop Virtualization solutions, today announced the availability of a beta version of an HTML5 client for VMware View – the first VDI solution to work natively with Chrome, Safari and other browsers with HTML5 and WebSocket support. The solution does not require Java, Flash, Silverlight or any other underlying technology.

Features:

– Support for Windows, Linux, Mac and Chrome OS (HTML5 client is the only way to support Google’s Chrome OS)
– Runs on netbooks, desktops, laptops and thin clients, and supports Intel x86, ARM or any other CPU architecture
– Looks and works the same way on all supported device types, thus reducing training and help desk costs
– Enables IT staff to publish desktops to end-points, for which native VMware View clients either do not exist or cannot be created
– Can be deployed to locked-down end-points, kiosks and computers for which the user does not have administrative privileges
– Simple, easy and inexpensive to maintain – does not require any infrastructure for deployment, upgrades or patches – simply put new version on the server.
– Includes Ericom Blaze RDP Compression and Acceleration technology

Ericom Adds VDI support for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers

After announcing support for Oracle VM last May, Ericom has now added VDI support for with its Parallels Virtuozzo with its PowerTerm WebConnect software solution.

Parallels Virtuozzo Containers is an OS-level server virtualization technology that partitions the underlying operating system into multiple isolated containers, so that many workloads or virtual desktops can be run simultaneously on the same physical box.

Ericom’s PowerTerm WebConnect enables organizations to centrally manage and deploy virtual desktops based on Parallels Virtuozzo Containers from within the datacenter and hosting facilities – reducing the cost and complexity of traditional desktop PC management. Symbio Adds Ericom’s Virtualization Solution To Boot Appliance and Boot Stick

Symbio Technologies, provider of what they call “green” stateless computing, announced today that it has added Ericom’s PowerTerm WebConnect client to its Symbiont Boot Appliance and Symbiont Boot Stick after signing technology licensing and reseller agreements with Ericom Software.

Ericom’s PowerTerm WebConnect provides secure local and remote access to enterprise mission-critical applications running on a broad range of Microsoft Windows Terminal Servers, Virtual Desktops (VDI), Blade PCs, and legacy hosts. PowerTerm WebConnect is a platform and hypervisor agnostic solution that enables organizations to standardize on one solution for the management and delivery of server-based applications and virtual desktops.

Symbiont Boot Appliance and Symbiont Boot Stick users can deploy Ericom – or any other software loaded on their server. The Symbiont boot products, which are available from Symbio Technologies’ global network of value-added resellers, support virtually any type of computer, using their own operating system to power the hardware and connect users to terminal servers.

Ericom Extends PowerTerm WebConnect To Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V

Ericom Software today announced that PowerTerm WebConnect, Ericom’s presentation virtualization and desktop virtualization (VDI) solution, now provides centrally managed access to virtual desktops running on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V.

PowerTerm WebConnect provides access to Windows Terminal Services, including Windows Server 2008, Virtual Desktops, Blade PCs and legacy hosts. Ericom’s solution centralizes the management and delivery of virtual desktops and server-based applications.

Ericom Releases PowerTerm WebConnect, VDI Solution Based On Oracle VM

Ericom Software today announced the availability of Ericom PowerTerm WebConnect for Oracle VM, a desktop virtualization (VDI) solution based on Oracle’s server virtualization software.

Ericom explains its decision to use Oracle VM like this:

“Oracle VM is scalable, low-cost server virtualization software that supports both Oracle and non-Oracle applications. Oracle VM extends Oracle’s support for grid computing by providing the ability to virtualize within as well as across servers.”
