Extreme Networks Names David Ginsburg As Chief Marketing Officer

Extreme Networks today announced that it has named communications industry veteran David Ginsburg as its Chief Marketing Officer. Paul Hooper, Vice President of Corporate Marketing, has resigned and will be leaving the company to pursue other interests.

Ginsburg joined Extreme Networks in December 2010, when he was appointed to lead strategic marketing, product portfolio definition, and vertical solutions marketing.

As CMO, Ginsburg expands his role to take on the full mantle of global marketing activities for the company, and will be responsible for all aspects of corporate marketing, product management, solutions marketing, and outbound communications activities.

Ginsburg has held key marketing positions at communications companies such as Cisco Systems and Nortel Networks, and at start-up companies including Allegro Networks, Shasta and Innopath.

As senior vice president of worldwide marketing and product management for Riverstone Networks, he led the efforts to drive global branding and field marketing, coupled with key product differentiation, to focus on driving revenue and winning market share in the Ethernet market.

HyTrust Names Mercy Caprara CFO

HyTrust, which delivers proactive control, compliance and visibility over virtualized environments and the entire cloud stack, has announced that it has named Mercy Caprara as Chief Financial Officer. Caprara will be responsible for driving and overseeing financial strategy and planning at HyTrust.

Caprara has over fifteen years experience in corporate finance, working with both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. Most recently, she served as VP of Finance, CFO and company secretary of TriCipher, an Internet identity services provider that was recently acquired by VMware.

Prior to that, she was co-founder and VP of Finance for Escalate, a provider of cross-channel commerce solutions, where she set up all finance functions and led several financings.

Before Escalate, Caprara was corporate controller at data warehousing software provider Red Brick Systems (acquired by Informix Software), and Controller for Kiva Software, where she was instrumental in closing the acquisition of that company by Netscape.

“I’m excited to join HyTrust and build upon its existing financial foundation to further the business goals,” noted Mercy Caprara, CFO of HyTrust.

Egenera Appoints John Humphreys VP of Marketing

Egenera, provider of open converged infrastructure software for data center management, has appointed John Humphreys vice president of marketing.

Humphreys most recently was senior director, Data Center and Cloud Marketing at Citrix Systems. There he led the revitalization of the XenServer virtualization platform and had responsibility for developing marketing strategy, defining packaging and pricing, leading program execution, driving customer engagements and pre-sales activity, and acting as a primary spokesperson.

Prior to Citrix, Humphreys was vice president of the virtualization practice at IDC, a global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets.

Humphreys will report to Egenera’s president and CEO, Pete Manca.

Egenera was founded in Massachusetts in 2000 and pioneered the blade server and converged infrastructure markets.

Its flagship product, Egenera PAN Manager Software, makes data centers more agile and reliable while reducing capital expenditures and operating costs.

Astute Networks Expands Executive Team With Key Hires From VMware, SEPATON

Astute Networks, a provider of network and storage-based technologies, today announced the appointment of two executives to its team: Steven Houck, senior vice president of worldwide sales and Jay Kramer, vice president of worldwide marketing. Both executives will report directly to CEO Steve Topper.

As Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Houck will be responsible for developing Astute Networks’ global sales strategy and growing company revenue. Prior to joining Astute Networks, Houck held various executive positions at VMware including vice president of worldwide channels and vice president/general manager, Latin America. Houck also served as vice president worldwide SMB sales at EMC where he successfully developed the SMB storage market for EMC Corporation. H

ouck held the position of CEO at Gridtree, a cloud services company serving enterprises throughout Latin America. He has also held various sales leadership positions including executive vice president of worldwide sales at Corel Corporation.

Kramer brings 25 years experience in the technology industry to his role as vice president of worldwide marketing at Astute, where he will spearhead the company’s efforts to build a leadership position in the fast-growing global market for virtualization solutions addressing mid-market and enterprise infrastructure and cloud deployments.

Prior to joining Astute Networks, Kramer was the vice president of worldwide marketing at SEPATON; a vice president of worldwide marketing at iStor; and a vice president of marketing at Maxtor and CDS. Kramer had also held executive positions in sales, marketing and strategic planning at Unisys Corporation.

Nasuni Names Bill Simpson As VP of Worldwide Sales

Nasuni today announced that it has further expanded its management team with the addition of Bill Simpson as the company’s Vice President of Worldwide Sales.

This latest expansion follows Nasuni’s April announcement of the launch of their partner program.

Simpson brings more than twenty years of technology sales experience to Nasuni, much of which he has spent building strong channel and sales organizations for young, fast growing technology companies.

Immediately prior to joining Nasuni, Simpson served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Akorri, a storage and virtualization management company that was acquired by NetApp earlier this year. Prior to Akorri, Simpson was Vice President of Global Channel Sales and Strategy at Virtual Iron Software, a virtualization and virtual infrastructure management company that was bought by Oracle.

Nasuni was founded in 2009 by storage veterans to deliver a secure gateway to cloud storage that makes the cloud feasible for business users. The Nasuni Filer is a virtual NAS file server that runs on VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V and Citrix XenServer and leverages the resources of the cloud to simplify file storage and protection.

The company is backed by North Bridge Venture Partners, Sigma Partners and Flybridge Capital Partners.
