Virtacore Names Phill Lawson-Shanks As CTO

Virtacore Systems, a provider of hybrid clouds, announced today that Phill Lawson-Shanks has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer.

During his more than 25 year career in technology, Lawson-Shanks has held a variety of strategic and practical positions.

Before joining Virtacore, Lawson-Shanks served as Board Member and Chief Strategy Officer of Nimbus Exchange. He held the position of Chief Strategy Officer at Alcatel-Lucent and was responsible for designing and deploying the company’s cloud strategy.

Whilst at SAVVIS, he led the Managed Hosting Division and was an early architect of systems that became the precursors to today’s cloud computing environment. Additionally, Lawson-Shanks spent many years with Compaq Computer in Europe and the US, managing large organizations and successfully launching numerous products and services.

Virtacore Debuts VMware vCloud Express, An On-Demand Self-Service Cloud Offering

Virtacore Systems, provider of hybrid cloud services, has announced the availability of the company’s vCloud Express offering. The public cloud solution, based on VMware vCloud technology, provides virtual servers from a shared resource pool for a low monthly cost.

One of only two global providers to offer vCloud Express, Virtacore vCloud Express provides organizations with an on-demand, pay-as-you-go infrastructure that meets the needs of organizations seeking a flexible and affordable infrastructure.

Virtacore CTO Tom Kiblin Appointed To VMware Service Provider Program Advisory Group

Virtacore Systems this morning announced that founder and CTO Tom Kiblin has been appointed to the VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP) Advisory Group.

The VMware VSPP Advisory Group will work with VMware to help further the VSPP program, product, licensing and marketing plans.

Virtacore is a Premier-level VMware service provider.

The group will be holding its inaugural meeting at the 2011 VMware Partner Exchange, being held February 8-11, 2011 in Orlando, Florida.
