DataCore And Promark Set Up A Distribution Partnership

December 1, 2008 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

DataCore Software and Promark Technology today announced a new distribution relationship under which Promark Technology will distribute DataCore’s storage virtualization solutions in the United States.

DataCore storage virtualization software removes physical, geographic and device-specific restrictions of data storage equipment that frequently slow down, interrupt or endanger computer operations – making it practical for organizations large and small to get the fullest utilization, highest availability and fastest performance from their disk storage assets by consolidating and automating essential data protection measures and storage management practices.

Ideally suited for VMware and other virtual server customers, DataCore is unique in providing true high-availability, auto-failover/failback business continuity and DR solutions that are perfect for SMB customers, but perform to meet the needs of enterprise customers – at prices starting under $10,000.

DataCore Software is manufacturer-independent software that runs on any industry standard server or virtual server. It is certified on all the major virtual server platforms, including VMware, Microsoft and Citrix, and supports both iSCSI and Fibre Channel connections. As a result, DataCore provides a persistent solution that survives hardware obsolescence and under DataCore’s unique “Carry-forward” Value Protection Program is fully upgradeable without penalty.

We Support Obama Because He Supports Virtualization

November 4, 2008 by Toon Vanagt 1 Comment

Since we’re based in Europe, the editorial team at Virtualization.com is not afraid of showing some last minute support for Barack Obama in his presidential campaign. Pretty logical if you think of it, as “change” in the computing industry through Virtualization is what we have been preaching for years now. So we went over to Silicon Valley and went looking for trails of the 2008 presidential campaign. To our great surprise, John McCain was nowhere to be found in San Francisco, or maybe we have been looking on the wrong side of town (or state).

This campaigner on Market Street does a good job and even knew Obama’s opinion on our beloved Virtualization technology.

Barack Obama in favor of Virtualization. Vote for change in a datacenter or on a desktop near you. from Toon Vanagt on Vimeo.

Anyway, today you can make yourself and us happy by casting your vote (for change, preferably). If you’re not a US citizen, than do it here.

ONStor Surveys Businesses, Claims Europe Lags US In Storage Virtualization Adoption

July 1, 2008 by Robin Wauters 1 Comment

Recent independent surveys conducted in both the United States and Europe by provider of clustered NAS solutions, ONStor, indicate that the majority of businesses surveyed in both regions believe that their existing storage solutions will only be able to scale for the next one to two years. Only 27% of European respondents are actually implementing storage virtualization today compared to 35% in the US.

73% of US respondents reported that they currently operate a virtualized server environment, and 67% answered that they are considering deploying virtualized storage in their data centers. In the US, 45% of businesses surveyed stated that they would realize operational cost savings between 20-40%, which is the main driver of storage adoption. In Europe that figure was near identical on 48%.

Other results from the survey:

  • 59% of respondents believe that at the current growth rate, their existing storage solution will be able to scale for only one to two years; way ahead of the European market, which was on 40%
  • Half of US respondents believe that simplifying management is the most important consideration when choosing a storage virtualization solution. In Europe, the figure was far higher on 60% of the sample.

Respondents across both continents agree that as information continues to double year on year, storage virtualization is fast becoming a business imperative.
