PacketTrap Networks’ Perspective Software Now Includes Virtualization Monitoring

October 28, 2008 by Robin Wauters Leave a Comment

PacketTrap Networks is set to announce that its network troubleshooting and remediation solution, Perspective, now includes virtualization monitoring. The free virtualization module helps IT managers identify virtual machines and other resources throughout their life cycles. It is integrated into Perspective’s dashboard, which Richard Ptak from Ptak & Associates (www.ptaknoelassociates.com) calls a “powerful and intuitive interface that makes the task of getting information much easier.”

Perspective was designed with the help of more than 10,000 network administrators who provided critical input regarding features, functions and usability. This community of users helped determine the requirements for Perspective’s new virtualization module, which led to features such as discovery, tracking, capacity planning, traffic analysis and alerting/reporting notification capabilities.

Perspective’s Virtualization module makes it easy to monitor virtual environment to ensure it is running smoothly. It automatically discovers host ESX servers and associated guest virtual machines and provides insight into key statistics like status, CPU, memory, disk usage, and interface traffic. As resource allocation changes, Perspective updates to provide you with the most real-time information about a virtualized environment.
