SolarWinds Acquires Hyper9, Launches Application Performance Monitor

SolarWinds, a provider of IT management software, recently announced that it is entering the application performance and virtualization management markets through the launch of SolarWinds Application Performance Monitor (APM) and the acquisition of Hyper9, a privately-held virtualization management software provider.

SolarWinds’ Application Performance Monitor is an application and server management product that provides visibility into the performance of critical IT services, the underlying application components, the operating system, and the Windows, Unix and Linux server resources on which they run.

Pricing starts at $2,495, with the first year of maintenance included.

Hyper9’s virtualization management offering adds optimization, capacity planning, configuration and chargeback reporting for virtualized server environments to the SolarWinds portfolio. The company expects to offer the virtualization management products at pricing starting at $3000, including the first year of maintenance.

SolarWinds Debuts New, Free Virtual ManagementTool – VM Console

SolarWinds, a provider of IT management software to more than 95,000 customers worldwide, announced the newest addition to its community-driven free tool offering, VM Console.

VM Console joins VM Monitor as SolarWinds’ second virtualization management free tool, and is designed to bounce (shutdown and restart) and track virtual machines (VM) from the convenience of a real-time, desktop dashboard.

VM Console features:

  • Bounce VMs without logging into vCenter or vSphere
  • Use vCenter/vSphere credentials to view a top-down hierarchy of the virtual environment
  • Track the real-time up/down status of VMs from the desktop without logging into VMware apps
  • Take a snapshot of your VM prior to shutdown
  • Search VM names or IP addresses

SolarWinds VM Console is free and available on the SolarWinds website.

SolarWinds Debuts Free VM Monitoring Tool

SolarWinds, provider of downloadable network management software has released a new free tool, SolarWinds VM Monitor, and an update to its flagship Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM) that will allow IT professionals to take advantage of the key characteristics of SolarWinds’ solutions — enterprise-class performance combined with affordability, quick deployment and ease of use — to manage and monitor their virtual deployments.

SolarWinds VM Monitor delivers an intuitive, desktop dashboard that continuously monitors a VMware ESX server and the associated virtual machines by providing real-time monitoring of ESX health indicators.

The SolarWinds VM Monitor is free and available for download on the SolarWinds site. Orion NPM is available now and pricing starts at $2,475 (USD) for 100 monitored elements including first year maintenance. Orion NPM customers, currently under maintenance, get the 9.1 updates for free.
