Ready For VMworld 2011 Europe? More Than 6,500 Attendees Expected In Copenhagen

Are you ready for VMworld 2011 Europe, which will be held in Copenhagen next week (Oct. 18 – 20, 2011)?

VMware recently unveiled the speaker lineup and sponsorship list for the European virtualization and cloud infrastructure industry event of the year.

Building on the conference theme, “Your Cloud, Own It”, the European event will feature more than 200 breakout sessions from VMware and its ecosystem of partners and customers.

More than 125 sponsors and exhibitors are supporting the conference including Global Diamond sponsors Cisco, Dell, EMC, HP and NetApp, and Platinum Sponsors CA Technologies, Colt, Fujitsu, IBM, Intel, Symantec, Trend Micro, VCE and Wyse Technology.

VMware executives will lead three general session presentations during the event.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 3:30 p.m. CEST (9:30 a.m. EST), the event will kick off with a keynote presentation featuring VMware CTO and Senior Vice President of R&D, Steve Herrod, who will demonstrate a cloud infrastructure suite, including VMware vSphere 5, as well as technologies helping enterprises better serve their employees in a world of increasing change.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 9 a.m. CEST (3 a.m. EST), Raghu Raghuram, VMware senior vice president and general manager, cloud infrastructure and management, will focus on industry trends moving toward a more dynamic, flexible and automated datacenter environment based on the increasing role of virtualization across the datacenter.

Closing the event on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 9 a.m. CEST (3 a.m. EST), VMware CEO Paul Maritz will take an inside look at the forces shaping Cloud Computing and the next generation of IT.

VMworld 2011 Europe will feature more than 25 lab topics with almost 8,000 lab seats conducting up to 240 simultaneous lab sessions during the three-day event.

Robert Yusin Joins AccelOps As VP, Worldwide Sales

AccelOps, provider of end-to-end monitoring solutions designed for cloud-generation data centers, today announced that Robert Yusin has joined the company as vice president of worldwide sales.

He will lead the company’s global sales growth in the cloud-monitoring marketplace.

A Silicon Valley veteran, Robert Yusin was most recently VP of Sales at Fox Technologies. Previously, he served as EVP of Worldwide Operations at Loglogic, and also managed sales teams in multiple regions at Symantec Corporation.

Yusin holds BA and MBA degrees from Saint Mary’s College, Moraga, California.

Talari Networks Names Emerick Woods President And CEO

Talari Networks has announced the appointment of Emerick Woods as president and CEO. He succeeds Andy Gottlieb, co-founder of Talari, who remains active with the company as a member of the Board of Directors.

Woods has led and founded a number of early- to mid-stage high technology companies as well as completed two IPOs.

Most recently, Woods served as CEO of Global IP Solutions, a publicly listed company that provides media processing software for voice over IP (VoIP) and video conferencing solutions acquired by Google.

Previously, Woods served as CEO of Vicinity Corp. where he completed an IPO raising $125 million. Subsequently acquired by Microsoft, Vicinity provided a location-based services platform to many of the world’s leading brands.

He has also been CEO at several other venture-backed companies focused on the mobile carrier, location-based services, and network infrastructure markets. Woods has held a variety of management and executive positions at Quarterdeck, Symantec, Central Point and Microcom.

Talari Networks’ WAN Virtualization solutions transform broadband and other affordable Internet links to deliver reliability and performance predictability at consumer prices.

Talari delivers a network with 30 to 100 times the bandwidth per dollar, ongoing WAN costs reduced by 40% to 90%, and greater reliability than existing corporate WANs.

Ziften Launches With $5.8 Million In Series A Funding

Ziften Technologies has officially launched and announced a $5.8 million Series A round of funding that has fueled the company’s growth since its origin in early 2010.

Ziften focuses on enterprise system efficiency, introducing software dedicated to improving endpoint efficiency, user productivity, and device service lifetimes way beyond traditional desktop management by increasing Quality of Service (QoS) across all endpoints within an enterprise.

Ziften’s software directs and reallocates computing resources to the applications of highest business value, benefiting the enterprise, employees, and IT.

Ziften closed $5.8 Million Series A funding from Fayez Sarofim & Co. and Trellis Partners.

Ziften executives bring together experience from technology’s most regarded brands: Akami, AMD, Cisco, Dell, Intel, and CalTech. Most notably, this team worked together as the founders of WholeSecurity, an enterprise security leader snapped up by Symantec in 2005.

CommVault Names Bob Carapezzi As Its New Director Of Professional Services For The Americas

CommVault is announcing that Bob Carapezzi has joined the company as the new director of professional services for the Americas.

In this role, he will look to expand CommVault’s strategic services offerings to help enterprises streamline the integration of CommVault Simpana software into their physical, virtual and cloud environments to solve key business and IT challenges.

The addition of Carapezzi will further seek to improve sales efficiencies in CommVault’s Professional Services organization, accelerate enterprise services revenue growth and help customers fully realize the value of their Simpana software implementations.

Most recently, Carapezzi served as the Northeastern area professional services director for BMC Software. Prior to BMC, Carapezzi held professional services management roles for companies including Pillar Data Systems, Veritas (now Symantec) and Informix.

AppSense Names VPs Of Marketing And Sales For The US

AppSense, provider of user virtualization solutions, recently announced it has expanded its executive management team in the U.S. and hired David Burton as vice president of marketing and Michael Nicosia as vice president of sales.

Burton joins AppSense’s global corporate marketing team and will lead its efforts in the U.S. territory, driving all aspects including new opportunity generation and the rapid expansion of the channel program. Nicosia will be responsible for the sales organization within the U.S.

Prior to joining AppSense, Burton was the VP of marketing and business development at AlgoSec, a provider of network security solutions, and previously held senior marketing roles at Check Point Software Technologies, NetContinuum and Symantec.

Nicosia was previously part of the leadership team for the Citrix Online Division. Previously, Nicosia was the president of Barry Rhein & Associates, a sales consulting and training company targeting Fortune 1000 companies.
